HARVESTING
GRAFTED VINES
Once
autumn is over, when the leaves have fallen and wood has lignified, we
harvest grafted vines with a lifting plough.
Grafts
are then sorted in dark and fresh cellars or cold rooms.
SORTING
AND PREPARING VINES
We
check the strength of grafting points, the length and lignification of
shoots, as well as the quality of root systems, that must comply with
European Community standards.
Vines
are kept in a fresh and humid cellar until we can prepare them for planting.
Before
planting in the vineyard, we trim the shoots so that they keep two buds,
and cut the roots at the required length, which varies according to the
planting system.
Vines
are then disinfected and root systems are puddled into peat and clay.
Vines are packed into cartons especially designed for their protection
and easy delivery.
Cartons
are stored in cold rooms (3 to 5° Celsius / 37.4 to 45° F) until
delivery.
