LIVAL (Black)

A. Lavallée and Lignan crossing (French National Institute for Agricultural Research)

Lignan: 1st stage. Medium-sized grapes. High vigor. Low production

A. Lavallée: 2nd stage. Large grapes. High vigor. High production

Budding: Anterior to A. Lavallée.

Ripeness: 2 weeks before A. Lavallée.

Vigor: Very high. Light pruning required.

Production: High, but lower than A. Lavallée. Short bunches of grapes, spherical or slightly elongated bunches of grapes, quite large, colorful. Firm pulp, less fleshy than A. Lavallée.

Conclusion: A good improvement of A. Lavallée, with the same characteristics in terms of vigor and productivity. The quality of the grapes has been improved.
