MUSCAT D’HAMBOURG (Black)

Budding: Average (a few days after Chasselas)

Ripeness: 2nd stage, 3 weeks after Chasselas (i.e. around the second week of August in optimal conditions).

Vigor: Good. Average pruning or goblet pruning required.

Production: Very high (4 to 6 kilograms per vine-stock). Large and often straggly bunches of grapes. Ellipsoidal and quite large grapes. Beautiful bluish and black color. Average skin. Juicy flesh. Fresh and musky savor. One of the consumers’ favorite varieties.

Conclusion: This is certainly one of the most appealing black Muscat, due to its beautiful bunches of grapes, eye-catching grapes and musky savor.
Muscat d’Hambourg is the French’s favorite black grape variety.
