ALPHONSE LAVALLÉE (Black)

Budding: Quite late (more than one week after Chasselas).

Ripeness: 2nd stage (2 to 3 weeks after Chasselas, around mid-August in optimal conditions).

Vigor: High. Gives better results in trellis works, due to its long shoots. Well adapted to light pruning.

Production: High (up to 8 kilograms per vine-stock). Large, conical and straggly bunches of grapes, sometimes voluminous. Very large black and spherical grapes. Thick and astringent skin. Fairly fleshy pulp.

Conclusion: Variety characterized by a moderate gustative quality. Highly recommended for trellis works and pergolas. Large bunches of grapes. The result definitely pleases the eye.
